The Golden Anniversary

A beautiful love story, encompassing a fifty-year union. Our Gallery Assistant, Lauren shared this beautiful story behind her Mom Linda's wedding anniversary ring, custom-made in our workshop.

My parents, Linda and Greg Shores met as teenagers and were high school sweethearts. They dated for years while my dad was in a band and went to the University of MD. They had such a cute love story and were inseparable. They enjoyed every date night out and went to prom together. They were married on August 24, 1974, and then jetted off to a romantic honeymoon in Hawaii where my dad had matching outfits made for their trip. My father had a career as a police officer and my mother was a floral designer while raising two girls. They've enjoyed 50 years of love and laughter, supporting each other through the good times and challenging times, traveling on cruises, and enjoying many family trips to the beach. They have built a beautiful life together, leading to two daughters and three grandchildren. Their family is the most important thing to them and they have always been a special example of a true legacy of love! Through the years my dad often gifted my mom several pieces of jewelry for life milestones and anniversaries. When I was born my dad gave her diamond earrings and on their 30th anniversary, he surprised her with a vintage floral diamond pendant (that she still wears daily). Mom always cherished these thoughtful gifts from my dad and the time & thought he put into each piece he selected. My mom's original wedding ring was a 70's style cluster ring (lots of baguettes), and when she was approaching their 50th wedding anniversary, she wanted to re-set her diamond into a new ring with a vintage floral design to coordinate with the other pieces she wears all the time. She always loved her engagement ring, but her style changed through the years and the ring didn't match the earrings and necklace that she wore every single day.

Meeting with Stacey was a really enjoyable and unique experience where she was able to share her love of floral design and vintage jewelry.  She has always loved jewelry and wanted to experience the custom design process. My mom's request was to create a new custom anniversary ring, to re-set the diamond from her engagement ring while finding a new stone to preserve her original ring too. Stacey designed her dream floral-inspired anniversary ring to showcase her diamond!  It's a spectacular white gold ring with a floral motif and a double halo center to highlight my mom's 50-year-old diamond. It also has lots of hand-milgrain detailing that adds to the vintage style she adores. Stacey found a lovely blue zircon to set into her original engagement ring so she could still enjoy that ring too since it was so sentimental, but gave it new life with the new aqua blue center stone.

Mom hasn't taken the ring off her finger since Stacey presented it to her. She gets many compliments on it. It was the perfect way to commemorate her 50th wedding anniversary to my dad! She highly recommends Stacey and the entire InBloom team to anyone who is thinking about an heirloom transformation or giving their engagement ring a new update for their milestone anniversary!
