Jewelry repairs are about more than restoring a piece’s function—they’re about preserving the memories, milestones, and meanings attached to a piece. At InBloom Jewelry, our repair and restoration services are handled on-site by our master goldsmiths, combining advanced technology with decades of bench experience to help you decide whether a piece should be repaired or repurposed.
With more than 30 years of combined experience, our designers and goldsmiths look at the whole picture when you bring in a repair—age of the piece, wear patterns, metal type, and the emotional value your jewelry holds for you. Many clients come in thinking they need a quick fix and leave with a thoughtful plan for how to care for, restore, or redesign their jewelry over time.

What We Can Help With
Our repair services include ring sizing for 10k, 14k, 18k, and 22k gold as well as platinum, ring sizing beads, prong re-tipping, head and shank replacement, diamond replacement, chain repair, clasp replacement, rhodium plating, cleaning and polishing, and GIA-graduate gemologist prepared full appraisals.

Ring Sizing—Why the Price Can Vary
Ring sizing is one of the most common repairs we perform, but clients are sometimes surprised by its cost, which can differ depending on whether a ring is being sized down or sized up. Sizing down is often less pricey because it usually requires removing metal and reshaping the band, while sizing up requires adding precious metal to preserve the ring’s structure, symmetry, and finish.
In other words:
Sizing down may use less material and less labor.
Sizing up may require additional metal and more bench work.
The design, metal type, stone placement, and amount of resizing can all affect the final estimate.
Some rings can also benefit from sizing beads instead of a full resize, especially when a small adjustment is all that’s needed. This can be a helpful option for comfort, stability, or preserving the original integrity of the piece.
Other Common Repairs
Because they hold gemstones in place and protect their corners, prongs often get the brunt of everyday wear. Prong re-tipping helps protect stones by strengthening worn prongs, while head and shank replacement can restore a ring that has experienced more significant wear. Chain and clasp repair can bring a favorite necklace or bracelet back into regular rotation. Rhodium plating, cleaning, and polishing also help refresh the look of well-loved pieces.
Gemstone Polish & Recutting
In some cases, gemstones have been damaged due to frequent wear and benefit from a new cut and polish. In these cases, we remove the gem and have a local gem cutter give it a refresh. (Such as Spectacle Gems.) Then it gets re-set in your existing jewelry, or sometimes repurposed in a new design. Note that a gemstone polish/recut may require a new bezel or setting, because the gemstone changes slightly when recut.
What Repairs Do We Not Do?
Unfortunately, we do not perform repairs on silver, costume jewelry, watches, or strings of pearls and beads. For these services we always refer clients to PJs Jewelry and Watch Repair at the FSK Mall.
Some stone settings are no-go's for us, too—namely illusion settings—but we always consult our goldsmiths on a case-by-case basis as some pieces are more reasonable to repair than one might think.
How Long Do Repairs Usually Take?
1 to 2 weeks. It can range shorter or longer depending on the simplicity or complexity of a repair.
How Much Do Repairs Cost?
We price our repairs based on the cost of materials and amount of labor required. If your InBloom Jewelry custom needs cleaning and polishing, these services are complimentary. For wedding & engagement clients, resizing is free and same-day, unless the design requires extra care to resize. (For example, resizing an eternity band would require steps like stone removal and setting, etc.)
Jewelry Restoration & Recreation
Unlike a repair, restoration entails our designers, CAD artists, and goldsmiths working together to accurately recreate your jewelry. This is usually done to create a copy of a meaningful family heirloom as a gift, or to remake a piece that's falling apart in a more lasting precious metal. Gemstones from the original are often repurposed. This is more costly and time intensive than a casual repair, as it requires an intensive design process.
When Repair Is Not the Best Option
Sometimes a piece is better repurposed than repaired. If a ring or heirloom has substantial damage, our team can talk through whether restoration or redesign is the better path. Our goal is to give you honest guidance so you can make the choice that feels right for both the piece and the story behind it.
